Reporter : Você recentemente fez duras críticas ao comportamento dos Brasileiros no fraicebook, você se arrepende da polêmica que causou?
MARK: De jeito nenhum, eu continuo achando que se deixarmos os Brasileiros soltos eles vão orkutizar, não só o fraicebooki, mas o mundo todo. Os Brasileiros estão usando nosso sistema como se estivessem dirigindo com 51 pontos na CNH, achando que podem sair atropelando os comentários de qualquer um a torto e direito. Aqui não é bem assim, nós criamos uma constituição no Fraicebook em 1988 onde cada usuário deve ser bloqueado da rede social por mau comportamento e tentativas de orkutização do espaço público. Por isso não mudo meu pensamento sobre os Brasileiros.
Reporter: You recently has heavily criticized the conduct of Brazilians in fraicebook, you regret creating such a controversy?
MARK: No way, I still think if we let the Brazilians free we tend to orkutilize not only the fraicebook, but the whole world. The Brazilians are using our system as if they were driving with 51 points in their driver’s licence (forbidden), they cannot act thinking they can run over anybody elses comments. Here we have control, we create a constitution in 1988 in Fraicebook where each user should be blocked from the social network for bad behavior and attempts to orkutization of public space and therefore do not change my perception thinking about the Brazilian behaviour.
Reporter: Mas você acha que há como mudar este comportamento tão típico do Brasil?
MARKI: Bom, veja bem… nem todos os Brasileiros são assim. É preciso considerar que tem muita gente honesta, engraçada e criativa que respeita as regras naquele país e que ainda fazem um excelente uso do Fraicebook. Um grande exemplo são os Tchô de Fraiburgo.
Reporter: But you think there is a way to change this tipical Brazilian behavior on the network and in the country itself?
Marki: Well, not all Brazilians are like that. Note that there are many people honest, funny and creative who respect the law in that country and still make excellent use of Fraicebook. A great example of this comes from the TCHOs of Fraiburgo.
Reporter : Mark, o que você quer dizer com os “tchô de Fraiburgo”, o que é isso?
MARK: Ahh sim, desculpa. Esse é um termo novo até pra mim. Aprendi recentemente num dicionário de Inglês-Fraiburguês. Tchô se refere a um indivíduo (personagem) que vive na região da grande Fraiburgo em Santa Catarina – Brasil. Você que é Brasileiro deve conhecer essa cidade, não? Você é paulista por acaso? Fraiburgo é a terra da apple (maçã), do licor e da maçã do amor…dos dinossauros, do Tchô Quenorris, do caminhão enterrado, da Arnoldo Frey road.. do Michuim…da geada, do handebol, xadrez, volley, lago das araucárias, das cachoreiras escondidas, taquaroçu, butiá verdade…etc… não conhece mesmo?
Reporter: Mark, what do you mean by the TCHO of Fraiburgo, what is it?
MARK: Ahh yes, sorry. This is a new term for me too. I learned recently in a English-Fraiburguese dictionary, where TCHO refers to an individual living around Fraiburgo in Santa Catarina Brazil. As you are Brazilian you ought to know this town don’t you? by the way are you from São Paulo or so? Fraiburgo is the land of apples, the dinosaurs, the TCHO Quenorris, the berried truck … the Arnoldo Frey road… the Michuim… frost, handball, chess, volleyball, Araucárias leke, the hidden waterfalls and etc. Don’t you really know that?
Reporter : Infelizmente não conheço, mas lá no sul não é tudo gaúcho?
MARK: pois é, eu também achava que era, mas também, quem é que conhece o Brasil de verdade? Sorte que apareceu um blog bilíngue (português/inglês) dum tchó do Frai contando desse povo acolhedor de alma limpa, com uma cultura engraçada, meio própria… que não é nem gaúcha e nem mané (barriga verde). É interessante ver as coisas que eles compartilham no fraicebook muitas vezes. É esse tipo de comportamento antiorkutização que os Brasileiros deveriam ter no Fraicebook. Eles tem uma capacidade extraordinária de criar humor encima de qualquer coisa, possuem uma arquitetura própria, um dialeto nativo e expressões que só um tchô puro entende, um lago super massa no centro da cidade, cachoeiras nos arredores, gente bonita, o pôr do sol mais colorido do Brasil e principalmente estudantes desbravadores que se pinxam no mundo todo atrás de conhecimento, etc. É pra esse tipo de gente que nós do Fraicebook ainda mantemos esta rede funcionando no Brasil, mesmo apesar de todas as tentativas de orkutizacao dos brasileiros em geral. Pra mim Fraiburgo é umas das cidades mais bonitas do Brasil e a piazada lá e promissora…
Reporter: Unfortunately I don’t, but down there in the south everyone is Gaucho right??
MARK: yeah, I also thought that too, but infact who knows Brazil very much? Lucky a bilingual blog appeared provinding information about the city its people. They seem to be very friendly with a clean soul clean, funny with its own culture, which is definetly neither Gaucho nor Mané (the green belly in the cost of the state). It is interesting to see things they share in fraicebook. It is this kind of behavior antiorkutização that the Brazilian should have on Fraicebook. They have an extraordinary ability to create humor on top of their own tragedies, have a unique beauty, an architecture, a native dialect and expressions, a beautiful lake in the city center, waterfalls, beautiful people, the most colorful sunset and clouds in Brazil and a group of hilly skilled students who are studying worldwide to bring knowledge to Brazil and that’s is very nice…It is for that kind of people that we asn Fraicebook organization still keep this network running in Brazil, even though all attempts to Brazilian orkutization or our system. For me Fraiburgo is one of the most beautiful cities in Brazil…
Reporter: Mas você acha que Fraiburgo é mais bonita até do que São Paulo?
MARK: Você está de brincadeira, só pode! Comparar Fraiburgo com São Paulo, a cidade mais orkutizada do país é sacanagem…pelo jeitão dos Fraiburguenses na rede social eles vão tomar cuidado para, nas próximas eleições, não elegerem pessoas capazes orkutizar o lugarzinho deles. Isso é muito legal e seria bom se os demais Brasileiros copiassem essa ideia genial de não orkutização do mundo real. E você, vê se volta pro Brasil e vai conhecer melhor o teu país, nem que seja pelo orkut mesmo.
Reporter: But you think that Fraiburgo is even more beautiful than São Paulo?
Mark: Are you kidding me? To compare Fraiburgo with Sao Paulo, the largest the most orkutinized city in the country must be a joke. By the mind set and the behaviour of the Fraiburguense people on the social network I am sure they will watch out for the next election and will elect people who can orkutinize their lovely town. This is a really cool thing and it would be nice if others cities in Brazil copy this genius idea of not orkutization of the real world. By the way, you as Brazilian should go back to your country and study more about it even if you still use orkut, I can’t accept you don’t know Fraiburgo.
Esta semana foi divulgado pela revista “The Economist” um ranking das 100 cidades mais competitivas no mundo sendo este baseado no índice global de competitividade que analisa aspectos econômicos, fluxo de capitais físicos e humanos, instituições financeiras também seu apelo social, ambiental e global. A surpresa desse ano foi sem dúvida a aparição de vereda de Fraiburgo na lista. Segundo os consultores do Lá no Frai esse foi resultado da descoberta da cidade em si e também de investimentos na educação da piazada com aulas de Xadrez até nos finais de semana, descobrimento das cachoeiras, instalação das ciclofaixas e, recentemente, a coleta seletiva do lixo…Os consultores ainda resaltam que há bastante espaço para melhorias na performance da cidade uma vez que vários fraiburguenses estão começando a se preparar desafios da economia pós-industrial baseada em educação e cultura.
This week “The Economist” published a ranking of the 100 most competitive cities in the world which is based on the overall level of economic strength, physical human capital, financial institutions and environmental and global appeal. The surprise of this year was undoubtedly the appearance of Fraiburgo on the list. According to the consultants of La no Frai this is the result of the discovery of the city itself and also investment in education that includes Chess lessons even on the weekends, discovering waterfalls, installation of bike lanes and, recently, the selective collection of garbage…Yet, the consultants see a lot of room for improvments since the city dwellers are raising their awareness towards e new economy which is fundamentaly based on education and culture.

Fiquei muito feliz (aliás em Fraiburgo se usa “facero”) de ver algumas ciclofaixas instaladas no Frai o que é, sem dúvida, algo muito distante e a frente da grande maioria das cidades do Brasil e do mundo. O Frai sempre teve vocação para lidar com inovação, absorvendo e ajustando para si o que existe de melhor ao redor do mundo impulsionar seu desenvolvimento e melhoria da qualidade de vida dos habitantes. É claro que ainda falta muita coisa, mas o primeiro passo é sempre o mais importante em qualquer projeto.
I was very happy arriving to Fraiburgo and seeing first hand some cycle-paths installed, which is way ahead of most cities in Brazil and the world. I have the feeling that this city always had a vocation to deal with innovation, absorbing and adjusting to itself what is the best around the world to boost its development and improvement of quality of life of its dwellers. Of course we still lack much in comparison to Holland and other nations, but the first step is always the most important in any project.
Também notei que a cidade está ficando entuiada (se entupindo) de carros e o seu eterno aspecto de cidade pacífica está mudando consideravelmente, será que para sempre? As vezes penso que, inconscientemente, os Brasileiros em geral associam o desenvolvimento ao barulho e ao entrevero, porém na nova sociedade do conhecimento (pós-moderna) as coisas mais preciosas serão o “tempo” e o “silêncio” pois sem eles não é possível refletir mais profundamente sobre problemas de maior escala e valor. Ex.Vários empresários Suíços e gestores, depois de viajar o mundo todo, estão desenvolvendo produtos para o mercado mundial numa vila no meio da montanha e cheio de vacas, é sério! Pense nisso quando abrir a lata de leite Ninho, Nescau, Neston ou o Nescafé ou então quando ouvir as expressões canivete, relógio, queijo, banco, chocolate Suíço.
I also noticed that the city is becoming full of cars and its eternal aspect of the peaceful town is changing considerably, which will be forever? Sometimes I think that, unconsciously, Brazilians in generally associate the concept “development” to noise and crowds, but in the knowledge society (postmodern) the most precious things are “time” and “silence”, without them it is not possible think more deeply about issues in a greater scale or value. E.g. Several Swiss entrepreneurs and managers, after traveling the world, develop products for the worldwide market in a village in the mountains full of cows! So, think about it when you hear the expressions Swiss knife, watch, cheese, bank, chocolate and etc.
Um dos grandes obstáculos para o nosso real desenvolvimento, num país de pouca tecnologia própria e muito futebol na cabeça é inverter algumas atribuições de valores gerados principalmente pela TV, lembrando que a TV gratuita não é gratuita. Então para construirmos uma infra-estrutura descente em nossas cidades, precisamos nutrir uma nova consciência sobre mobilidade urbana para que isso direcione as futuras obras públicas que interferem diretamente em nossas vidas e em nossa faceirice de viver e desenvolvimento econômico (dinheiro). Abaixo está o triangulo da mobilidade que sugere a melhor forma de priorizar o trânsito em qualquer lugar. Depois que tivermos ciclovias por todos os lados, poderíamos ter uns bondinhos elétricos cruzando o Frai levando as pessoas aos trabalho e os turistas aos pontos turísticos…
A major hurdle for our real development in Brazil, which is a country with low own technology and too much football is to reverse some assignments of values generated mainly by TV, remembering that free TV is not free. So to build a decent infrastructure in our cities, we must foster a new awareness that urban mobility to direct future public works that directly interfere in our lives and our economic development (money). Below is the triangle of mobility that suggests that the best way to prioritize traffic anywhere. Once we have bike lanes everywhere, we could have a few electric trams crossing Fraiburgo bringing people to work and tourists to our turistic sights…
Além disso, contando um pouco da experiência de Fraiburguense vivida na Holanda, capital mundial das bicicletas, fiz a dublagem desse vídeo abaixo para que os Brasileiros e também Fraiburguenses possam refletir e aprender com os erros dos outros países pois como descrito pelo autor:

Mas o que poderíamos fazer de imediato? Criar estacionamentos seguros paras as bicicletas enfrente a todos os estabelecimentos comerciais, pensar sobre algum projeto de alocação de bicicletas e assim por diante. O importante é começar a discutir…Um dia a gente chega lá e de Bici!
Um tanto impressionado com a pressão religiosa em Fraiburgo…talvez porque em outras cidades ou países em que estive nos últimos anos, as pessoas não tenham o mesmo tempo livre pra ficar caracterizando (classificando) e puxando uns aos outros só pra conversar sobre isso. Assim como acontece com o cheiro da Facelpa (fábrica de papel), quem respira isso o tempo todo não percebe mas outros de fora sim. Espero que no futuro ainda seja possível passear pela cidade, tirar fotos e apreciar aquilo feito por Deus antes que as religiões existissem e começam delimitar o que é certo ou errado. Espero que Fraiburgo continue livre para que possamos curtir o que construído por mãos de Católicos, Luteranos, Espiritas, Ateus, Agnósticos, Michel Telonistas, Corinthianos, Gremistas, Colorados e X-com-bolinha. Se a globalização é algo irreversível é melhor a gente ir se acostumando com pontos de vista diferentes, línguas diferentes porque o mundo é grande e amplamente diverso…
Somewhat impressed by the religious pressure in Fraiburgo… maybe it ‘s because in the other cities or countries where I have been to it seems that people didn’t have enough time characterize one to another and keep talking non-stop about god. In the city we have a paper production industry that polutes the air bringing about a bad smell and those who breathe it all the time do not feel but the visitor do notice it sometiemes and the religious case is the same as this. I hope that in the future it will still be possible to wander around the city, take pictures and enjoy what has been made by God before any religion and what has been built by the hands of Catholics, Lutherans, Spiritualists, Atheists, Agnostics. If globalization is irreversible, that is something we’d better get used to different viewpoints because the world is large and widely diverse…

Quando o Fraiburguense fala “Mas home do céu” ele se refere a alguma coisa fora do padrão ou surpriendente. A foto abaixo expressa um pouco do sentido dessa frase. Foi realmente muita sorte estar com a máquina preparada no lugar e no momento certo. Também seria um pecado não poder compartilhar esse presente do homem do céu com vocês…Só no Frai mesmo!

Arriving to Fraiburgo, I was very lucky to be receptioned with such stunning breath-taking scenery next to the Araucárias lake. Glad be in the right time, right place with the right equipment. Amanhecer em Fraiburgo com temperaturas abaixo de zero é alucinógeno. Ainda não consegui encontrar o autor desta foto. Mas parabéns pelo empenho. Uma excelente foto para mostrar que existe um Brasil subtropical é frio de verdade. Antagonicamente, está a foto tirada alguns anos depois no verão de 2012, onde apesar da seca as árvores estão mais coloridas e o lago precisando de água :). Pode se jogar o jogo dos 7 erros, mas acredito que tenham bem mais 🙂 (se gostar compartilhe ou deixe seu comentário)…
Early in the morning in the winter time, simply breath taking. Conversely below is a recent picture in the summer.
