Ensinando Holandês em Fraiburgo (aula 1) / Teaching Dutch in Fraiburgo (lesson 1)

I was just speaking on the phone with my 5 year-old nephew, who lives in Fraiburgo. Suddenly during the call I switched the language of Fraiburguese to Dutch. He stopped talking to me for a little while and started questioning “What?” “What?”

Getting no answer at all, he promptly went to his mom crying out laud.

Mum I can’t hear anything!!!”

Well dear friends, the lesson of the day is that, when we don’t understand the language or even a subject at hand the feeling of deafness kick in. The solution is to keep ourselves always open to learn new things constantly to face this unpredictable and difficult to understand little world. Bellow I add a short video in which I tried to teach Samuel 3(years ago) how to speak some basic Dutch words. He got talent I am so proud of him! 🙂

1 – Goedemorgen = Bom dia = Good morning

2 – Goedemiddag  = Boa tarde = Good afternoon

3 – Goedenavond = Boa noite (quando se encontra) = Good evening

4 – Heel goed = Muito bom!  é quage como um “Mazá bicho véio no Fraiburguês padrão” = Very good

5 – Dat is een broodje = Aquilo é um pãozinho = That is a little bread

6 – Geweldig = Maravilhoso = Amazing

It is sort of coyness, very difficult word to translate from Dutch to any language. It is like a very very comfortable place in which it seems that all variables of the world are under control, you got it?

That’s all dear friends, sorry for not writing so much in English, live is getting busier and busier. The more famous we get the less time we get! Just kidding, I will always try to find myself some time to get something interesting to talk about here. By the way, this week I am going to represent the Dutch education in the top universities in Brazil, I am really excited about this trip that will be another brick to build up a bridge between Holland and Brazil. Both governments are helping out a lot. Tot ziens!
