The coat of arms of Fraiburgo was elaborated in Paris, in 1964, by the artist Heráldico Robert Louis following the request of Albert Mahler, who was a French immigrant, entrepreneur and partner of the Frey Brothers organisation, and who settled in Fraiburgo from the very beginning of its creation. At the top, two crossed logs in which two axes symbolizing nailed timber extraction by brothers Frey, activity that gave rise to the County. The bottom of the wheel bearing and the sword of St. Catherine, patroness of the state. The flowers that flank the wheel represent the forests of Fraiburgo. Uma das fotos mais bonitas do inverno do Frai! Os banquinhos redondos (históricos) que marcaram uma boa parte da minha infância e de muitos outros infelizmente deram lugar um lindo estacionamento, mesmo assim o hotel continua lá e hoje as árvores estão gigantes. O lago sempre bonitão!
Inaugurado no dia 31 de julho de 1981, o Hotel Renar – empreendimento das famílias Frey e Ziolkowski – inicialmente oferece 40 apartamentos. O empreendimento era um sonho de René Frey que acreditava que o hotel era vital para desenvolver o potencial turístico de Fraiburgo, para gerar negócios sustentáveis, empregos para os cidadãos e trazer divisas para a cidade apoiando-se simplesmente na beleza dos pomares da região. Fraiburgo já se tornara a Terra da Maçã e havia todo um potencial a ser explorado: floradas das macieiras na primavera, os pomares repletos de frutos no tempo da colheita e uma infinidade de produtos derivados. O hotel está situado numa área de 140.000 metros quadrados, no alto de uma pequena colina e diante do Lago das Araucárias, a arquitetura é foi inspirada no estilo alpino-germânico.

Founded on the 31st july of 1981, the Renar Hotel – a joint venture of the Frey and Ziolkowski families – initially offered 40 rooms. This venture was the dream of René Frey, who firmly believed that this hotel would be pivotal for developing the turistic potential of Fraiburgo, bringing sustainable businesses, employment to its citizens, and expending the city’s economic horizons, which in turn presented beautiful landscapes of apple plantations. At this time Fraiburgo was already the land of apples and there was still plenty of potential to be explored in other areas related to the apple s’ production life cycle. The building is located in an area of 140.000 square meters, facing the Araucarias’ Lake. Its architecture is inspired on the alpine-Germanic style.

C’est la vie! Missão cumprinda e hora de voltar para casa. Este post é uma singela homenagem do Lá no Frai ao ilustríssimo senhor Roger Biau, uma das maiores personalidades da história de Fraiburgo e talvez do Brasil, contribuindo fundamentalmente para o desenvolvimento da maçã neste país e no carácter sócio-econômico-arquitetônico do meio oeste catarinense. Sua moradia, o famoso “Castelinho”, um dia foi um sonho e hoje é um dos pilares do grande e mais promissor complexo cultural e turístico de Santa Catarina. Fica por nossa conta, Fraiburguenses do Frai e do restante do mundo, apreciar sua história de vida e aprender o que pudermos para continuar construindo uma cidade modelo, cada vez mais desenvolvida, bonita, organizada e justa para todos. Poderíamos pensar em uma estátua deste homem em algumas daquelas pequenas ilhas ou em algum outro ponto do nosso querido lago das araucárias? Merci beaucoup Roger.
Guys, this French man “Roger Biau” is retiring of his life mission in Brazil when in 1963 he came to the middle of nowhere in the coutryside of Brazil to check the tecnical fiseability of large scale apple production in Brazil. After years intense research and pioneering they were able to introduce Brazil apples to virtually the whole country. Now with 82 years old he is moving back to his beloved home coutry where the rest of his family is living and awaiting for his precious presence. We are extremely thankful of his achievements and life examples and hope we can learn more about it to continue working on the laborious development of this city. Thanks Mr. Roger of everything and best wishes for your new life in France, c’est la vie.
